Submission Guidelines

Paper Over Board is a division of the High Line Literary Collective.

Please only submit to one agent at a time.

For nonfiction, we welcome full proposal submissions. If you do not have a full proposal, please submit the following: a query letter explaining the hook of your idea, your author bio with specifics about your platform and audience, as well as sample excerpts from your book. If your project has a visual element, please try to include samples of your artwork, photography or design vision.

We consider all submissions thoughtfully and make best efforts to respond to all queries. If we are interested in your project, we will get back to you within twelve weeks, and we welcome follow-up emails if you have not heard from us after that time. Please only query one project at a time unless otherwise requested. If we request material, please send it along as a Word document or PDF attachment.

While Paper Over Board® represents a broad range of nonfiction, we do not represent fiction, picture books, poetry or screenplays.

At this time, we only accept electronic queries sent to the submissions inbox or an agent’s query email addresses. We do not accept paper queries or queries by phone. Please be sure that you indicate which agent you intend to query in your email.
